The poor visibility in buses/trucks during turning and cornering manoeuvres often leads to accidents with cyclists and pedestrians (VRUs). Collisions between commercial vehicles and VRUs are among the most serious accidents. To prevent this and support the driver, AXION's turn assistants continuously monitor the blind spot next to the vehicle and warn the driver in dangerous situations.
The new generation of ICA Turn-Assist utilises state-of-the-art technology. The camera image is continuously analysed with the help of artificial intelligence. As soon as a VRU is in the coverage area, the driver is alerted. If there is a risk of collision, an additional warning is issued. The multi-stage warning concept always helps the driver to better assess the situation and avoid accidents.
System overview:
- Compact system consisting of a Smart AI camera, LED warning display, buzzer and control unit
- Developed according to the latest BMVI standard
- Reliable detection of moving cyclists and people (VRU) through object classification
- Multi-stage information/warning strategy to support and relieve the driver, in accordance with ECE-R151 directive
- Avoidance of unwanted warnings by fading out static objects and vehicles
- Special camera design with drip edge to protect against rainwater collecting on the lens
- Can be flexibly retrofitted in almost all vehicles thanks to wide mounting range
- Quick and easy installation without additional sensors
- Optional display of the camera image on an AXION or existing monitor (adaptation may be required)
Area of application:
The system was developed for commercial vehicles (classes N2 and N3) and buses (classes M2 and M3) with more than nine seats, including the driver's seat, which fulfil the following installation conditions. The system can also be used for vehicles weighing <3.5 tonnes if the possible installation position allows this.Optional accessories:
