ICA-B2CH-Box-System "Turn-Assist"

The ICA "Turn-Assist" system monitors the vehicle's right-hand blind spot and automatically warns the driver as soon as a source of danger (other vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, etc.) appears in this area.

  • Turning accidents due to the "blind spot"

It is a regularly recurring accident scenario, especially in urban centres:
A lorry turns right and hits an unprotected road user who was trying to continue straight ahead. The victims are usually cyclists, but sometimes also pedestrians, inline skaters, etc. In most cases, the accident victims are run over by the lorry. It goes without saying that this results in extremely serious, very often fatal injuries.

"In turning accidents between lorries and cyclists/pedestrians, 71 people died and 723 were seriously injured," according to figures from the German Accident Research Institute (UDV) for 2012.

Visibility from the cab of the lorry is severely restricted. Cyclists, pedestrians and especially children are easily overlooked by drivers, with serious consequences for life and limb.

Turning manoeuvres that result in collisions between trucks turning right and cyclists have serious consequences for the vulnerable road user.

The ICA "Turn-Assist" turning assistant system monitors the vehicle's right-hand blind spot and automatically warns the driver as soon as a source of danger (other vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, etc.) appears in this area. Thanks to the connection to the right indicator signal, the system switches on automatically when turning.
